Vermilion Parish LAVINE Booking Roster

The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office maintains an active roster on the statewide LA VINE network. You can reach it at vermilion.lavns.org/roster.aspx. The roster lists everyone currently in custody at the Vermilion Parish Law Enforcement Center. It pulls from the jail's live database and updates every 30 minutes, so the list stays current as new arrests come in and releases occur.

The screenshot below is from the Vermilion Parish LAVINE roster page, showing the booking list interface used to look up current inmates.

Each row on the roster links to a full record with charges, bond status, booking date, and a mugshot photo when available.

The LA VINE system is run by the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement. It covers parish jails across the state under one unified platform. Vermilion Parish has been an active participant, which means custody data flows through the same notification system used statewide. If someone you are tracking gets released or transferred, the system captures that change.

VPSO Prisoner Search Portal for Vermilion Parish Bookings

Beyond the LAVINE roster, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office also runs its own prisoner search at vpso.net/prisoners.aspx. This portal is maintained directly by the sheriff's office at vpso.net and offers a slightly different search experience. You can search by first name, last name, or court case number (CCN). All name searches are partial, so you don't need the full spelling to get results. You can also search by first name only or last name only.

The portal also lets you register for LAVINE notifications directly from the search results page by clicking the notification icon next to an inmate's name.

Having two search tools is helpful. If a name search on one system comes up empty, try the other. The VPSO portal's CCN search is especially useful if you have a court case number from a court filing or a prior arrest record. Not every parish in Louisiana offers CCN-based jail searches, so this is a notable feature for Vermilion.

What Vermilion Parish Booking Records Contain

Each booking record in Vermilion Parish includes the person's full name, date of birth, race, and gender. The arrest and booking date are listed, along with an inmate ID number and the current custody status. You can see the housing location within the facility, which tells you which unit or pod the person is held in.

Charges are listed by description, and the bond amount is shown when applicable. The court case number ties the booking to the formal court record. Release time and arresting agency are also included. Mugshots are displayed directly on the LAVINE roster for most entries. This level of detail is consistent with what Louisiana public records law requires state agencies to make available.

Note: The information shown in booking records reflects the moment of arrest and may not reflect later changes such as dropped charges or case resolution.

Louisiana Public Records Law and Vermilion Parish Bookings

Louisiana's public records framework is defined in R.S. 44:1, which broadly defines public records to include documents made or received by public bodies in their official capacity. The Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office is a public body. Its booking records are public by definition under that statute.

R.S. 44:31 gives every adult the right to inspect, copy, and reproduce public records. You don't need a specific reason or a legal connection to the case. The sheriff's office cannot deny access based solely on who is asking. This applies to both in-person requests and requests made through online portals like the VPSO prisoner search.

R.S. 15:587 specifically covers arrest records in Louisiana. It confirms that arrest data held by law enforcement agencies is public. Vermilion Parish booking records fall squarely under this statute. Names, charges, booking dates, and related data are all accessible under state law.

Note: Juvenile arrest records are sealed under Louisiana law and are not available to the public through any of these channels.

LA VINE Notifications and Victim Services

The LA VINE program lets you sign up to receive alerts when someone's custody status changes. If an inmate is released from Vermilion Parish Jail, transferred, or has a status update, you can receive a phone call or message automatically. Registration is free and open to anyone. You don't need to be a victim or have a legal connection to the person.

You can also use VINELink, the national platform that connects to LA VINE and covers multiple states. If someone is moved from Vermilion Parish to a state facility or another jurisdiction, VINELink may still provide updates.

The LA VINE toll-free line is 866-LAVNS-4-U (866-528-6748). It runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Use it to check custody status or register for notifications by phone if you prefer not to use the online system.

State Offender Records Beyond the Vermilion Parish Jail

When someone in Vermilion Parish is convicted and sentenced to more than a year, they transfer from the local jail to a Louisiana state prison. At that point, their records move to the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. The DPS&C offender search covers state inmates and is separate from the parish booking systems.

If a person doesn't appear on the Vermilion Parish roster, check the DPS&C database. They may have already been sentenced and moved to state custody. The two systems don't overlap, so you may need to check both depending on the stage of the case.

Note: All persons listed on the Vermilion Parish recent bookings roster are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
